Meet the Team

Shelley McGeorge, PhD, MPA, LPCS, LMFT and Principal

Shelley is a principal with The Child Health Readiness Group. She is an experienced human services professional with 35 years of management and clinical experience working to advance the fields of education, mental health, addiction, and healthcare at the national, state and local levels with a strong commitment for program expansion, public sector work and the utilization of Medicaid as a funding mechanism. She is skilled in advancing policy and systems change through engaging national and statewide coalitions, legislative presentations, strategic planning, program development, quality assurance, tracking revenue and data analysis. Additionally, she has a clinical, private practice in Columbia, South Carolina.

Valeria Williams, Principal

Valeria Williams brings more than 20 years of demonstrated success and expertise in Medicaid health policy development and reimbursement. She also managed the School-Based Medicaid Services Program, where she played a key role in strengthening policies and procedures that expanded equitable access to healthcare and improved health outcomes for families across South Carolina. During her tenure with the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS), she was recognized for building robust Medicaid frameworks that supported effective service delivery and accountability.

In addition, Valeria served for more than three years as Executive Director of the First Step Program in Charleston, South Carolina, where she led initiatives focused on improving outcomes for children and families.

Valeria continues to collaborate with local, state, and federal stakeholders on Medicaid policy development, with a particular focus on addressing health disparities in school-based settings. Her work includes developing policy briefs, presenting to national audiences, and participating in national workgroups dedicated to advancing equitable healthcare access. She has also served as a consultant to the James R. Clark Sickle Cell Foundation for the past seven years.

Valeria holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina.
